Flag prep honestly
Stains, peeling, old plaster, major patches and furniture protection affect labor. Choose heavier prep when you see more than nail holes or a clean repaint surface.
Compare like scopes
Ask each painter whether protection, surface repair, primer, coats, ceilings, trim, cleanup and a walkthrough are included. A low number that omits work is not the same bid.
